Alabama Shakes made their UK live debut last night (Wednesday) at an NME Awards Show, where they were watched by Hollywood A-lister Russell Crowe. The first of three nights at north London’s intimate Boston Arms saw the Athens, Alabama four-piece play a mixture of songs from their forthcoming first album ‘Boys And Girls’, newer songs and a thunderous encore of Led Zeppelin’s ‘How Many More Times’. The Gladiator star later wrote on his Twitter page: “The @Alabama_Shakes gig was the centre of the musical universe tonight, great gig, this band is the real deal, do yourself a favour”, also replying to a number of fans urging them to check out the band’s music. Florence And The Machine’s Florence Welch has said she is “really anxious” to start work on her new album. The singer, who recently admitted that she once got so drunk she set fire to her hotel room after a night out with Lykke Li and Kanye West, told the Daily Star that she was “really anxious” to begin sessions on the follow-up to her last LP ‘Ceremonials’. Although Welch only released her last album in October last year, she said: “I’m really anxious to get back in the studio. The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach has recorded a collaboration with Michael Kiwanuka. The Shins are set to release their fourth album, ‘Port Of Morrow’, in March 2012.

The band left Sub Pop in 2008, so the album will be released on band leader James Mercer’s Aural Apothecary label via Columbia Records.

The band – made up of James Mercer, Yuuki Matthews, Jessica Dobson, Richard Swift and Joe Plummer – are set to tour next year. The new album is their first since 2007’s ‘Wincing The Night Away’.

In 2009, James Mercer joined up with Danger Mouse to form the band Broken Bells. After releasing their debut self-titled album in 2010, they released a follow-up EP ‘Meyrin Fields’ earlier this year.

(New York, NY November 30^th) – 2011 has been an incredible year for Foster The People. Columbia Records is proud to announce that the Los Angeles based trio has received two Grammy^® nominations for ‘Best Alternative Album’ and ‘Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.’

This news comes on the heels of the band’s gold certification of their celebrated album Torches. Earlier this month the band’s single, “Pumped Up Kicks,” was certified 3x platinum. The album, which is titled ‘Another Life’ is available to download free from Stoermer’s official website Markstoermer.com. The album, which is only downloadable for free for a limited time, will also be available for purchase on CD and vinyl in the coming weeks.
