The Killers have begun work on their fourth studio album and have already written a series of new songs, according to singer Brandon Flowers.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 last night (June 21), Flowers said that the band had reconvened and were now working in earnest on new material.
Asked if the band had written any songs for the follow-up to 2008’s ‘Day & Age’, Flowers replied: “We have about four or five. We’ve put them up on the board and they’re sounding good. We think they’re strong.” (read more via The Killers: ‘We’ve already written four or five new songs’ | News | NME.COM)

Red Hot Chili Peppers will release their 10th studio album ‘I’m With You’ on August 29, they have now confirmed.
There had been speculation that the LP, which is the follow-up to 2006’s double album ‘Stadium Arcadium’, would be titled ‘Dr Johnny Skinz’s Disproportionately Rambunctious Polar Express Machine-head’ - a title inspired by an acid trip a friend of singer Anthony Kiedis once had, but the California quartet have clearly thought better of it.
The album, which has been produced by frequent collaborator Rick Rubin, will be preceded by a single, which is titled ‘The Adventures Of Raindance Maggie’ and will be released on July 18. (read more via Red Hot Chili Peppers name new album and release date | News | NME.COM)

Coldplay have published three cryptic tweets on their official Twitter account, Twitter.com/coldplay, which may give hints about the title of their new single or album.
One tweet links to a moving image that spells out the message: “Maybe the trees are gone”. Another spells, “Maybe the streets alight” while a third one reads, “I feel my heart start beating to my favourite song”.
The first two messages are written in flashing text with the other written in a brightly coloured font.
A similar message was posted yesterday which reads: “I turn the music up, I got my records on, I shut the world outside until the lights come on.”

Mick Jagger has confirmed that he’s formed a new group called Super Heavy.
Speaking to NME, The Rolling Stones frontman revealed he has been rehearsing in Los Angeles with a star-studded line-up, which includes Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart, Joss Stone and Damian Marley.
Discussing the formation of the new band, Jagger said: “The four of us got together and thought we’d go into a studio and throw some things around, see what would happen, if we’d have fun. “We didn’t know what kind of music we’d make. We knew it would be a laugh, because we all got on. But you can have a laugh and nothing comes out, y’know.”
